Acetyl's Terms of Service

By accessing or using the Acetyl chat client (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service.

1. Eligibility & User Identity

Age Requirement. The Service is strictly intended for individuals who are at least 13 years of age (or the minimum legal age required in your jurisdiction). By using the Service, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement.

Account Identifiers. Accounts and display handles are tied to your unique Firebase User Identifier (UID). You are entirely responsible for all activity, content transmissions, and interactions conducted under your assigned UID and username.

Impersonation Prohibited. Impersonating other users, staff members, or automated system processes is strictly prohibited. Misleading handles, offensive display names, or unauthorized username squatting will result in an immediate name reset or account suspension.

2. Acceptable Use & System Security

Community Standards. You must strictly abide by our Community Guidelines and all applicable local, national, and international laws when using the Service.

Prohibited Conduct. You agree not to transmit unsolicited commercial communications (spam), harass, threaten, or abuse other users, distribute malicious software, or attempt to exploit system vulnerabilities.

System Integrity and Ban Evasion. While source-code modifications for self-hosted instances are permitted under our open-source license, you may not modify or reverse-engineer the client software to bypass built-in features when connecting to our official hosted Service. Additionally, you may not send automated or unauthorized requests directly to our database or application servers, intentionally disrupt app stability, or create secondary accounts to circumvent active bans or rate limits.

3. User Content & Data

Responsibility for Content. Messages, files, and media transmitted across public channels, custom servers, or direct messages (DMs) are the sole responsibility of the sending user. Acetyl does not endorse, control, or assume liability for user-generated content.

Automatic Data Deletion. To ensure system performance and server optimization, chats enforce message deletion rules. Older messages and attached assets are subject to automatic, permanent deletion when channel capacity limits are reached. Acetyl provides no guarantee of message persistence, historical data retention, or chat recovery.

Content Moderation. We reserve the right, but maintain no obligation, to review, flag, or permanently remove any message or file attachment that violates these Terms or applicable law.

4. Moderation, Bans, & Appeals

Administrative Rights. Administrators and moderators reserve the right to issue warnings, kick users, or execute temporary and permanent bans against any UID or IP address at any time, with or without prior notice, for conduct deemed harmful to the Service.

Audit Logs. To maintain security and enforce ban persistence, administrative logs—including your UID, username, ban reason, timestamp, duration, and reviewing moderator—are permanently stored.

Appeals Process. If your account or access has been suspended, you may appeal the decision by emailing [email protected]. Unban requests are reviewed entirely at the discretion of the administrative team, and all appeal decisions are final.

5. Disclaimer & Limitation of Liability

"As-Is" Provision. The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to uptime guarantees, zero-bug operation, or absolute data security.

Limitation of Liability. To the maximum extent permitted by law, the developers and operators of Acetyl shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, or consequential damages resulting from your access to, inability to access, or data loss within the Service.

Modifications to Terms. We reserve the right to revise these Terms at any time. Revised versions will be published directly within the Service client and take effect immediately upon posting. Your continued use of Acetyl following any updates constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
